1. Policy Overview and Purpose

The primary goal of our workplace violence policy is to educate employees about the types of behaviors we categorize as workplace violence. We encourage staff to promptly report any early indicators or potential threats. Our commitment is to foster a safe working environment characterized by mutual respect. 2. Application of the Policy

This policy is applicable to all individuals within our organization, including employees, contractors, clients, public visitors, and any other persons with whom employees interact in the course of their work duties.

3. Policy Elements

Workplace violence encompasses physical acts of aggression or threats aimed at individuals or property. It also includes abusive behaviors of various forms—whether verbal, psychological, or physical. Specifically:

  • Verbal abuse involves the use of unwelcome, embarrassing, offensive, or degrading language that is threatening in nature.
  • Psychological abuse refers to actions that instill fear or undermine a person's dignity and self-worth.
  • Sexual abuse includes any unwelcome verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature.

While it is not always possible to foresee violent incidents, it is imperative for managers and employees to remain alert and report any concerns or incidents of violence to the Human Resources (HR) department promptly. Examples of violent behavior among colleagues may include, but are not limited to:

  • Intimidation or bullying of peers
  • Use of abusive or threatening language
  • Physical assaults
  • Threatening conduct
  • Possession or use of a weapon
  • Sexual or racial harassment

We retain the authority to carry out periodic inspections using reasonable methods, which may be done without prior notice or consent from employees. This approach aims to uphold a safe and respectful workplace environment within [Company Name].

4. Grievance Handling Process

It is the duty of all supervisors and managers to enforce our policies and ensure that all procedures are executed without any form of discrimination.

Employees who either witness or experience any act of violence are encouraged to report the matter to their immediate supervisor or to the Human Resources department. We ensure the conduct of swift and confidential investigations. Our priority is to safeguard victims from further harassment or retaliation.

5. Disciplinary Actions

Our organization maintains a zero-tolerance stance towards violence. Any incident of such behavior will result in serious disciplinary measures, which may include termination of employment, removal from any boards or committees, and the possibility of facing criminal charges.

6. Policy Review

 This policy will be reviewed annually and streamlined as needed to ensure its effectiveness and adherence to current laws and regulations.
