Is CUET compulsory?
Compulsory is not the term that we would use to define CUET. We would rather say that CUET is a very vital examination that helps aspiring students to approach their dream university without any criteria based on their prior examination.
On a general basis every student is evaluated based on their 12th-cut off marks and thus everyone does not have the equal opportunity to take admissions according to their choice. CUET comes with this opportunity that we just mentioned about. CUET is validated by all streams except Engineering, MBA, MBBS, and Law.
CUET just did not help students apply equally but also set a very fair mode of examination with the help of which students get to chase their individual subjects without any complexity.

Is the general test compulsory for CUET?
The General Test is present in the 3rd section of the language paper. When it comes to talking about it being compulsory, then it would be a “no”. The General Test is obligatory for about 60% of the courses that validate CUET. On the other hand, for the remaining 40% you can appear for the general test. A plus point is that the General Test helps you score and escalate your chances of performing better in the examination. What is a domain specific subject in CUET?
Let us understand the meaning of the word ‘domain’ here. Domain on a day to day basis is known as origin, or specialisation. The Domain specific subject in CUET is the no.2 section of the examination. It is for students who want to take diverse subjects for their UG courses. There are 27 subjects in total and one candidate can select 6 subjects amongst these.
Based on your chosen University’s criteria you will have to select the subjects and the choices must align with the University. Time to time there are certain interdisciplinary subjects where again there will be two parts. The first part will be compulsory for everyone and the second part will have sub-parts that you will have to attempt on the basis of you and your university’s requirements and eligibility.
Will NEET and JEE merge with CUET?
Such a merge is a big step and honestly a very big transformation in the syllabus. But as of now there is no such step being taken of merging the NEET, JEE with CUET. Looks like it will take at least two years to decide upon the structure of the merge of the three exams and to conduct a combined test. The Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan clarified the news and asked the students not to be afraid. Meanwhile, Students have also been asked by the Minister to give their suggestions on the content of the books and study material for the National Curriculum Framework Citizen Survey. It was told that their thoughts and ideas will be taken into consideration.
What is Phase 1 and Phase 2 in CUET?
The phase 1 and phase 2 are basically two phases aligned to which the CUET exam is usually held. Taking this year’s (2022) example, the UG Phase 1 examination was held from 15th July to 20th July on the dates- 15th, 16th, 19th and 20th. Similarly UG phase 2 was held on 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 10th of August.
The reason behind the two phases in the examination is absolute security. The exam was scheduled four days post the admit card was issued. Therefore the students whose admit cards were issued around the second week of July were included in the Phase 1 and the students whose admit cards were issued by the end of July, belonged to the Phase 2.
The Central Universities Entrance Test (CUET) is basically an online-based test that evaluates the candidate's capacity to solve problems, process data and think critically. This requisite is pertinent for students who aim to gain admission into the 45 prestigious central universities of the country.
