1. Purpose

To offer fiscal backing and job protection to workers who are temporarily unfit to work owing to a non-work-related illness or injury.

2. Eligibility

  • Full-time workers must have completed (XX) months of nonstop employment.
  • Part-time workers are subject to unique commercial programs.

3. Benefit Duration and quantum

    3.1. Benefit Duration

 Employees may be eligible for short-term disability benefits for up to X weeks. This means that if an employee is unable to work due to a qualified medical condition, they can get disability payments for up to this time period.

   3.2. Benefit Amount

The short-term disability benefit covers X% of the employee's base income, with a maximum weekly payout of ₹X. For instance, if an employee's yearly income is ₹50,000 and the policy covers X% of their base pay, they will receive ₹20,000 as part of the short-term disability payment, up to the maximum weekly amount.

This policy guarantees employees financial support during periods when they are unable to work due to health concerns, assisting them in managing their living expenses during recovery.

4. Attestation conditions

4.1. Medical instrument

An instrument from a genuine medical expert is needed to validate the disability.

4.2. Claims Procedure

Submit a completed claim form and medical documents to the HR department within (XX) days of the inception of the incapability.

5. Return to work

  • Medical Clearance before returning to work, workers must produce a fitness instrument from their healthcare guru.
  • HR will ensure a smooth return to work, including any necessary leave.

6. Legal Framework

  • Workers' State Insurance Act of 1948 Provides sickness benefits to eligible workers.
  • The Manufactories Act of 1948 may include vittles for hand weal and medical benefits in specific diligence.

7. The consequences of abuse

7.1. Fraudulent Claims

Serious consequences, including termination, for faking disability claims.

7.2. Resistance

Failure to give needed documents or misrepresentation of the nature of the impairment may affect a turndown of payments.

8. Collaboration with other benefits

Donated Leave

  • Workers may need to use their earned paid leave before entering short-term disability payments.
  • Workers may need to apply for long-term disability payments if their disability lasts longer than a short period.
